I laughed really hard at this the other day. Weird things really do follow me everywhere I go-- or in this case, drive right in front of me. Get 'em, Jason!

I'm taking the day off to work on my non-blog writing (at least I'd better be doing so right now as this posts, or I'm going to kick my own ass!) and I've had to slow down to catch up on non-bloggable books and movies and projects, but fingers crossed, I might have a couple pretty exciting things happening within the next month or so!

Home again, home again...

I had an amazing time in D.C. last week, and I have some great photos to share with you guys! In the meantime, enjoy my very stupid sense of humor. What can I say, watching camp counselors get slaughtered sounded like a good way to unwind after all that travelling and sightseeing.

Easter! It's a Thing!

Fun With Keywords

As a blogger (ha ha ha! I'm a blogger.)
...Sorry. Some days it's just... weird to realize that. In an I'm-proud-of-it, it-makes-me-happy sort of way. It's like when I first moved out of my parents' house into my own apartment, some nights I'd lie there on the couch looking around thinking: "This is mine." I feel that way about this blog, too.

Anyways, where was I??

As a blogger, I like seeing what keywords bring people to my site. Once in a while they make me laugh, other times I have no clue. So just for fun, let's have a look. I'm pulling these from various time periods, since I've never done it before and I've missed out on some good ones-- maybe this can be a monthly thing from here on out, though.

Keyboarding with Zombies

Friends, Library of the Dead users, confused yet intrigued first time visitors, let's venture back in time to the mid-90's. Way before THE WALKING DEAD was even a comic, let alone a TV show or a video game, before LEFT 4 DEAD, before DEAD RISING, a couple of major video game series were just beginning. It wasn't the first time some form of zombie would appear in a game (that's been going on for at least 30 years) but both RESIDENT EVIL and HOUSE OF THE DEAD would have a significant impact on horror video games featuring the undead.

Screenplays, Comics and Why Calm Sucks

A sentiment to live by! Don't get me wrong, I take my breaks from the genre. But I've decided too much calm and comfort is no good. Everyone needs some adventure and excitement.

Metalcakes!

While I'm definitely no expert, I've been known to enjoy the metal genre from time to time. Most of it has been under the influence of a good friend of mine, who used to sing in a metal band in Colorado, but I also found myself unable to resist the epicness of bands like MASTODON. Mmmm, Mastodon. 

Ye Olde Monster Mash

Due to some other projects and responsibilities I've got going on, I don't have a substantial post for today. But here's something fun to watch instead! Enjoy the fact that the weekend is almost here with a little bit of musical Craig Ferguson. In the Library of the Dead, every day is a good day to Monster Mash.

Horror Decor

Finally, something for the Librarian of the Dead who wants her apartment looking like a bloody haunted nightmare ALL year round! ...Which I currently accomplish by a few permanent Halloween decoration installations. Don't judge! I know some of you do it too...

5 Favorite Video Game Ghosts

Growing up in a video gaming household, I've played on a lot of different platforms and consoles, all the way from the Atari and DOS games through my current blood red Resident Evil 5 edition Xbox 360 Elite with Jasper chipset. While I am often drawn to horror games and have played many over the years, today I'm going to talk about five favorite video game ghosts that generally, have not been part of a proper horror game (the Seventh Guest is my only exception)

Vampire Slayer Update

Happy Mayan Apocalypse Friday!

As I discussed when reviewing THE DIVIDE, I have a profound fascination with apocalypses thanks to all the nightmares I've had over my life. But worry not, your Librarian of the Dead is not one who believes the Mayan-zombie-comet-flaming-Planet X apocalypse is really happening. I am wary of tomorrow, but more because I'm afraid of what other people with fewer critical thinking skills might do. It's something horror has taught me: Be more afraid of other people than the monsters.

The Claw

Have you ever played video games for so long, you get "the claw"? Your fingers curl in, perhaps your thumbs begin to blister. I've given myself "knitting claw." Next time I think it's a fantastic idea to knit some of my CRYPT-mas presents, I'm going to start in June.

Seriously, I've been working myself to the BONE. I've been in a caffeine-and-Star-Trek-TNG-fueled knitting whirlwind for a couple weeks. I am DEAD tired and ready to TERROR my hair out. Days of the Dead @ Ax Wound Zine Blog!

I've got an article up on Ax Wound Zine's Blog about the evening I spent at Days of the Dead Chicago this past November. It was a fun little horror fest out in the northwest suburbs, my neck of the Chicagoland woods, and they had a great panel with the three leading ladies of ROCK 'N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL. As you may or may not recall, two of the three are horror actresses as well. See the article for more info!

I was very lucky when years ago, I stumbled across Ax Wound and "met" Hannah Neurotica, its founder. The zine focuses on exploring gender, sex and sexuality in the horror genre which was right up my alley. Gender and media studies almost became my unofficial second major in college I loved it so much. Hannah's amazing, and she has some fantastic people working with her that are just as passionate about the genre as she is. I've written for Ax Wound a few times over the years, never as much as I'd have liked to. Even if you don't go to read my piece, check out the website and grab a copy of the zine. If you love horror and want some brain-stimulation it's a must!

Zombie Statistics

Nothing punches up charts and graphs like a handful of the walking dead! Or in this case, hundreds of them. Canada's National Post has a lovely bunch of zombie statistics based on, well, The Walking Dead's two and half seasons worth of kills. Had to be fun being in the Post's art department the day they pitched this one.

Zombies on Ice!

If you live in the Chicago area and like more Halloween in your Christmas, you absolutely must check out Zombies on Ice 2012! It's happening Sunday, December 16th from 2:30-5:30 p.m. with more undead fun at the Christmas Market afterwards. They'll be skating at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park, which is the rink under the Bean. 

Sadly, I will not be there. The Librarian of the Dead has to slave over her reference desk that Sunday. Always missing out on something the weekends I've gotta work! I'm not big into Christmas anyways, but this would definitely have been a sight for red-and-green sore eyes. Have a blast for me!
