Fun With Keywords

As a blogger (ha ha ha! I'm a blogger.)
...Sorry. Some days it's just... weird to realize that. In an I'm-proud-of-it, it-makes-me-happy sort of way. It's like when I first moved out of my parents' house into my own apartment, some nights I'd lie there on the couch looking around thinking: "This is mine." I feel that way about this blog, too.

Anyways, where was I??

As a blogger, I like seeing what keywords bring people to my site. Once in a while they make me laugh, other times I have no clue. So just for fun, let's have a look. I'm pulling these from various time periods, since I've never done it before and I've missed out on some good ones-- maybe this can be a monthly thing from here on out, though.

Happy Women in Horror Month!

February 1st is here and that means it's officially WOMEN IN HORROR MONTH!

What does that mean? Well, direct from their website (www.womeninhorrormonth.com):

Every February, Women in Horror Recognition Month (WiHM) assists underrepresented female genre artists in gaining opportunities, exposure, and education through altruistic events, printed material, articles, interviews, and online support.

The short of it: Let's talk about ladies doing amazing things in the horror genre, because they deserve just as much exposure and fans as the guys do.

So, what am I doing to celebrate WiHM? I'm so glad you asked.

Things over in the Library of the Dead have been a little hectic, so I may not get anything new written until tonight. Planning things tends to make your Librarian just a little nuts, and I'm having people over this weekend. Add in lots of meetings and things going on at work, preparing for a collaborative graphic novel genre study by re-reading Maus I & II and Watchmen, the general weirdness of life, completing another short story and an attempt to finish up Star Trek: The Next Generation... well, there hasn't been a whole lot of time to reflect on the darker side of life.

I do have a review of The Apparition upcoming, I'd love to write about the Stephen King/Joe Hill graphic novel version of DUEL along with the film adaptation of Matheson's story, I'm strolling through the art book on ossuaries and charnel houses, I've got two more movies waiting for me at home, I've got games on the brain so I really want to talk about horror themed tabletop games... I'm not lacking for ideas, just the time.

Is it over yet?

Hold back your shock, but I'm not really into Christmas. I don't even decorate. I can't stand holiday music. I do the family thing, I do the presents thing, I appreciate friends and family who send cards. I have my own little batch of Christmas movies that I may or may not toss on near the... what is it, the 25th? But overall I don't get very much out of the holiday itself, and like many people the world over, I often find it a very stressful time of year. 

With the stress, and the business of preparing for the holiday, it's been a little more difficult to keep up with blog posts, but I'm chugging right through, looking forward to that light at the end of the tunnel that is 2013. I've got a lot in mind for this next year, so here's to gaining a little momentum out of the ashes of 2012.

It only took me twenty-something years of being a creepy weirdo and five years of being a degree-carrying librarian to come up with this one.

Simply put, I love all things dark and scary plus a few things that I don’t think are dark and scary but may sound a bit odd without a proper explanation. Especially in light of all the dark and scary.
