Top 5 Horror 30-Second Bunny Cartoons

I've been a big fan of Angry Alien Productions' "30 Second Bunnies Theatre" for a long time. If you've never seen one before, they boil down movies into a 30 second, bunny-starring cartoon, often with hilarious results. Lucky for me, quite a few of the films they've tackled have been horror movies. In no particular order, my top five are:

The movies that make the best 30 Second Bunny Cartoons have either iconic scenes and images, great one-liners or both. SCREAM has more of the latter, and I can't get enough of hearing Courtney Cox/Gale Weather's "You bastard!" in that high-pitched bunny voice. This is also a perfect example of how a common thread from the movie can create the best flow in the cartoon, in this case because of the "I didn't do it/We didn't do it/You did it?" lines.

The Exorcist
In my humble horror-loving opinion, THE EXORCIST is one of the best films in the genre. I know not everyone would agree with me, but I have my reasons. That said, this makes it to my Top 5 as a Bunny Cartoon for great choice of lines from the movie, and the fact that seeing a bunny say with all seriousness, "I think I've lost my faith, Tom" makes me laugh so hard.

The Shining
Out of all the horror films on the site, I think THE SHINING is the best example of pairing iconic scenes with wonderful lines. It lends itself well to a quick parody. I may be biased, the film and the novel are among my favorites in this genre. But they got Shelley Duvall/Wendy Torrance's screams perfect, they pulled just the right scenes out and had "REDRUM!" for crying out loud.

Freddy Vs. Jason
The honest reason I have this in my top five is for Bunny-Jason waving at the camera. I do enjoy the movie, I won't lie and say it's great cinema but it's fun if you're a fan of both series. I think they nailed Freddy's expression when Kelly Rowland/Kia Waterson tells him "You're not even scary!" I also have a special place in my heart for the line, "Dude, that goalie was PISSED."

They will put bunny ears on ANYTHING in these cartoons. In this case, you better believe that shark has some bunny ears attached. Again we have amazing lines-- "You're gonna need a bigger boat" to "This shark, swallow you whole" to "Smile you son of a bitch!" While JAWS may not be one of my personal favorites, I recognize just how great it is and can watch this bunnified version of it over and over and over again.

The Grudge
The 30 Second Bunnies Theatre version of this film is actually SCARY. I don't know if that's a testament to how terrifying the movie is, or just how well they made this cartoon.

Evil Dead 2
How can you go wrong? I can't think of better one-liners in any horror movie, so they certainly had plenty of material to work with. And in this case, it was already quite humorous to begin with. GROOVY!

The Cabin in the Woods
I'm just so happy that the bunnies took it upon themselves to do this movie. It didn't crack my top 5 for the Bunny Theatre, but it is one of my new all-time favorite horror movies. I hope Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard get to see the bunnies pay homage to it.

Be sure to check out all the other films the bunnies have done! From classics to cult films to sci-fi, it's a great way to spend some time on the ol' internet. Plus they have some upcoming new horror re-enactments like Paranormal Activity, Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, and Insidious. I know I can't wait!
